Besides being open source, I&#8217;ve some more criteria :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They should run on Windows and Linux, and sometimes Android<\/li>\n<li>Or it should be a web application, with a nice interface on mobile<\/li>\n<li>Or it is used to bridge the gap between different systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recently I&#8217;ve included a new criteria, about data and configuration accessibility : they should be shared between devices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Multi-systems applications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>VLC<\/li>\n<li>Firefox<\/li>\n<li>Libre Office<\/li>\n<li>Gimp<\/li>\n<li>FreeFileSync<\/li>\n<li>Games : OpenTTD, MAME, DosBox, FreeCiv<\/li>\n<li>Development : Python, Subversion, Scite, MySQL, Apache, KDiff3<\/li>\n<li>VirtualBox<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Web applications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TT-RSS, with mobile application<\/li>\n<li>Pydio, with mobile application<\/li>\n<li>Trac<\/li>\n<li>WordPress \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>PHPMyAdmin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Bridges between systems<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Samba<\/li>\n<li>Putty, Mintty<\/li>\n<li>Cygwin<\/li>\n<li>WinSCP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cloud services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These applications are so powerful, I don&#8217;t know how I could set up a system to replace them, let alone maintain it in the long run.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GMail<\/li>\n<li>Google Agenda<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Shared data and\/or configuration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Firefox<\/li>\n<li>TT-RSS<\/li>\n<li>Pydio<\/li>\n<li>GMail<\/li>\n<li>Google Agenda<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve chosen some open source software to use daily.
